Tabata workout was developed by a Japanese scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata and his fellow researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo.

They conducted their research on two groups of athletes. Both groups were trained to a different level of intensity. The first group was trained for medium intensity level and the second group was trained at a high-intensity level. The participants of the first group worked out for 5 days in a week and they continued doing it for 6 weeks. Every day the workout lasted for 1 hour. Whereas the participants of seconds group worked out only four days for six weeks and workout lasted for just four minutes and 20 seconds that too with only 10 seconds of rest in between each workout set.



The result of this study showed that the cardiovascular activities were increased of group 1 but no noticeable result was shown, whereas in group 2 there was a huge increase in their anaerobic systems. Therefore we can conclude that high-intensity training has more impact on the both the aerobic and anaerobic systems.

The Tabata Program
Each exercise in a given Tabata workout lasts only four minutes, But enduring those four minutes will be highly difficult for you. Here is a small structure for the workout.

•    Workout hard for 20 seconds
•    Rest for 10 seconds
•    Complete 8 rounds
