Twinkle Khanna knows how to wear the pants. The actor-turned-interior-designer-turned-author was promoting her debut production, PadMan on Wednesday, when her head-to-toe baby blue ensemble confirmed that the pantsuit trend, which consumed our sartorial imagination for much of 2016 and 2017, was far from over.
The silhouette of Twinkle’s boss lady two-piece was formfitting and clean — a classic, professional style you could probably wear at the office. With a look that screamed ‘sexy and strong’, Twinkle also showed us how a pantsuit doesn’t have to be a perfect match to look amazing. If her monochrome trouser and blazer set wasn’t eye-catching enough, the star-print burgundy shirt gave her look an unexpected pop of colour that certainly delivered on statement-making.
Twinkle’s fancy pants had all the little unexpected twists that make a good outfit so exciting. With the high-waisted cut of the pants, and the narrow-cut of the leg, these trousers were seriously on-point. Of course, she styled her pantsuit with brown and beige peeptoe wedges and pulled it all together with a super cute rectangular black Chanel sling bag. Her simple accessories — a cream-hued watch — were the perfect addition, not to mention the matching cream buttons on her blazer.
With blow-dried hair and diamond stud earrings, Twinkle’s look felt elegant but still fresh and young. And while it could have worked in the expected black and grey shade, we can’t help but love the dusty blue rendition. Finished with rosy pink cheeks and lips, and her signature heavily-kohled eyes, Twinkle’s get-up couldn’t be any more stylishly-laidback.
Proving that a blazer-and-trouser combo is infinitely versatile, we’ve seen the look on Twinkle at a wide array of events recently. She buttoned up a head-to-toe Gucci ensemble for her Oxford University appearance in January, 2018. Looking back a little further, Twinkle made the pantsuit her own when she attended a launch event in March, 2017, wearing an all-black ensemble featuring a cape jacket from Lavish Alice, a lace, velvet camisole from H&M and fitted Zara trousers.
