. She has been announced as the grand finale designer for its Summer-Resort 2018 edition. The finale promises to bring the best of Anamika's contemporary designs in sync with the nude make-up trend. In an exclusive conversation with TOI, she gives us a low-down on her upcoming collection: What was the motivation behind your return to the ramp?
I took a break for a while and I believe, the break always gives us a chance to rejuvenate, experiment and reinvent. Also, being part of the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week is always super prestigious. What is the inspiration behind this year's show?
The new millennials have been the inspiration behind this year's show. They are bold enough to wear their individuality on their sleeves. Each piece is one of a kind and has been made with traditional zardozi in most experimental ways. Also, we have mixed various textile colours for the collection.
(Grand finale show of designer Anamika Khanna for Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015) Tell us a bit about your Grand Finale collection. What will be the new take on the nude palette?
This time we want to showcase how much variety the nude colours can bring when done right. The grand finale collection has been fine-tuned in perfect symmetry with season statement: Nudes. Each year, the finale is special and this year, we have decided to push all the boundaries in sync with Lakme's colour palette. The nude make-up trend has been the talk of the town and looking through this trend it is very different in terms of fashion. It all about identifying every Indian woman's nude palette. What's something new to this year's collection?
The collection is very experimental, using very costume-like techniques. This time, the mix of materials is done which has never been used before. This is the second time, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be walking for your designs, how has the collab been?
Working with Kareena is always an honour! She pushes you to experiment. I believe she's the perfect muse to collaborate with.
