I’ll be the first to admit that there have been times when I've said or done something in a romantic moment because I believed with all my heart (and penis) that a woman was going to find it sexy.
But when I did it, she was not impressed.
I’ve never been called out for it, but I’m sure these women laughed pretty hard when they shared the stories with their friends. They probably even made up a nickname for me.
Hey, it happens...a lot. So I asked six women to share the times when a guy's attempt to be hot totally missed the mark.
“One time this dude I was messing around with put on some music, like Montell Jordan or something, and tried to strip for me. This could have been funny if he meant it as a joke, but he was really, really taking it seriously. He was feeling himself, too. He even got upset when I started cracking up.”—Katherine I.
“Before I slept with this guy I was dating, he kept finding random ways to bring up his vast sexual experience and how great he was at oral. It was annoying, to be honest. Eventually we did hook up, and he absolutely oversold himself. His oral game was lacking.”—Sandra P.
“The first time I went to the apartment of this guy I was dating, he busted out a keyboard from his closet. Then he started playing and singing Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer,’ but he was singing it in a way that was supposed to be sultry or something. It was not.” —Elaine B.
“The only reason guys send dick pics is because they think it’s hot on some level, right? Well, I’ve gotten more of them than I care to admit, all of which are not sexy. If we don't ask, don't send.”—Erica T.
“Before my boyfriend and I defined the relationship, we hooked up a lot. He’s a rather hairy guy, and I must have commented on it at some point (though not in a negative way, just as an observation), because the next time I saw him he shaved most of his body. It was hilarious. When I saw, I told him I actually liked his hair.” —Mia H.
“I was hooking up with this guy and he was like, ‘Hang on a second,’ and pulled out his phone. He got out of bed and turned on one of those portable speakers, and started streaming music from his phone. The first song that came on was ‘Your Body Is a Wonderland’ by John Mayer. The next song that came on was by Dave Matthews Band. I had to ask him to turn the music off because it was distracting. We’re still together, and I still make fun of him.” —Katie D.
