Some viral videos make you LOL, while others really make you think. But chances are, the clip below from BuzzFeed will make you do both. In it, they've recreated three TV commercials—except the men's roles are played by women, and the women's roles are played by men. Have a look:
The video is hilarious, sure, but it's also a conversation starter. Seeing that half-naked man puff out his chest as he bites into a sandwich on the beach looks absurd, and the video's text asks, "Seeing men like this is ridiculous... so why isn't it with women?" The goal is to point out that women are often sexualized in the most random types of commercials—like ads for fast food—but we may not even notice how ridiculous it is until the roles are reversed. Obviously, men aren't totally free from objectification in ads either (who could forget The Zesty Guy?), though some argue that it happens less frequently.

This is just one of several clips we've seen recently that aims to point out society's gender bias. Take for instance Jennifer Lopez's new music video for "I Luh Ya Papi," where she flips the script on most rap videos, or this gutsy Pantene Philippines commercial, which called out our double standard in the workplace. Even Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer of Facebook and author of Lean In, just teamed up with Beyoncé, Jennifer Garner, and more celebs to create a video encouraging us all to ban the word "bossy" and let young girls know that it's OK to be ambitious. Here's hoping these thought-provoking videos get enough shares and likes to make people think!
