You Can Now Watch Women Writhing in Pain as They Give Birthâ€"LIVE on Facebook

Remember how everyone freaked out last month when a California dad live-streamed his baby’s birth on Facebook? Apparently this is now a thing.

On Friday, TLC (the network that has brought you such eye-openers as I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant and Sex Sent Me to the ER) aired a real-time birth on Facebook Live.

Here’s what went down: TLC started a video stream on its Facebook page around 4:20 a.m.—because those darn babies never cooperate with primetime. It lasted about 11 hours and featured a mom named Rosario.

The network pegged it to their popular series A Baby Story (now A Baby Story LIVE) and ran it in two parts, each with a warning about graphic content, because this is a freaking live birth on Facebook. You know, something you might not expect to pop up in your notifications while you’re checking out your friend’s latest pic of her kid next to a Gerbera daisy.

And people got into it: Some posted messages encouraging Rosario on, while others commented on the logistics, like whether or not the placenta was out.

So…yeah, that happened. And get ready, because it’s going to happen again. TLC notes on its Facebook page that there will be another A Baby Story LIVE featuring a woman named Angela (due on June 27). “We’re very excited to share our story on Facebook live,” says her husband, Lamont, in a trailer for the big event. Angela is 39 weeks pregnant, they’re having a girl, but she wanted a boyand OMG SHE’S GOING TO GIVE BIRTH LIVE ON THE INTERNET. Ahem.

Something tells us we’re going to see a lot more of this in the future.
