Woman Allegedly Got Drunk, Trashed $300,000 of Art on First Date

Lindy Lou Layman, 29, is accused of trashing about $300,000-worth of sculptures and artwork, Chron.com reports. Layman was on a date with well-known Houston attorney Anthony Buzbee at the time of the incident, who claims Layman got belligerent at his home after their first date.

According to Buzbee, he called Layman an Uber after she became visibly intoxicated, but she allegedly refused to get into the car and ran back into the house. Per KHOU, Layman then reportedly threw an unidentified liquid onto some of Buzbee’s paintings, began tearing them off the walls, and tossed two of his sculptures across the room, resulting in at least $300,000 of damage, all the while yelling obscenities.

Among the ruined artwork was two Andy Warhol paintings. CBS News reports the damaged Warhols were each valued at $500,000 in court documents.

Layman was arrested on Saturday night on criminal mischief charges. She was released on a $30,000 bond.

Buzbee is a high-profile trial lawyer in Texas who hosted then-candidate Donald Trump at his home for a campaign fundraiser in 2016. He also reportedly donated $250,000 to Trump’s campaign.
