Add a pinch of baking soda and one teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water. Sniff this solution into one nostril and drain back through your nose. Repeat this for the other nostril. The best way to prevent dust allergies is by making some changes in the way you clean and manage your home. Here are some simple tips to minimise dust traps:

1. Wash your bed linen, carpets and rugs in hot water to get rid of any dust mites or allergens. Dry them in a hot dryer.

2. Change your bedsheets and covers once a week.

3. Ditch the dry cloth for a wet one while dusting furniture to avoid stirring up dust.

4. Always wear a mask while cleaning or dusting your home.

5. While cleaning and dusting, cover your mattresses and pillows with plastic sheets.

6. Vacuum your carpets, sofas and mattresses once or twice a week.

7. Replace drapes or curtains with roll-up window shades. If not, wash your curtains once a week in hot water.

8. Keep un-refrigerated food covered at all times.

9. If you can’t get of rid of stuffed animals, soft toys, and other dust collectors, make it a point to wash and dry them once in a while.
