This year's Winter Olympics have already given the world some amazing moments, and it's not even week two. People are making history! Siblings are being adorable! Athletes are speaking about their sexuality! And there are memes! Gold medal-worthy memes! For example, the Olympics crowd cam blessed us with another instantly iconic second during the team figure skating event. Please, witness this young man looking into the camera taking off a pair of sunglasses to reveal... another set of glasses. It's like the classic Drag Race wig-under-wig moment, except, somehow, shadier?
The athlete in question is 22-year-old South Korean Olympic figure skater Alex Kang-chan Kam, who's competing with his skating partner Kim Kyu-eun. Were it not for the fact that he's competing at the Olympics, it looks like he has waited his whole life for this moment and this moment alone. In case you were wondering, he was also the gentleman who dabbed on camera during the opening ceremony, as a millennial does in 2018 when on the world stage.
He shared this video on his Instagram with the caption "At what point does ironic dabbing become not so ironic anymore? ????" which feels very ~meta~ to me. I know there are like, tons of medals left to give, but this kid already won the Olympics, IMO. Congrats, Alex! You win gold for being an overnight internet sensation!
