University of Texas senior Tori Monaco and her U.S. Air Force girlfriend Berkley Cade are so very much in love, and so much in sync, with each other that they legit planned to propose to each other AT THE SAME TIME. Aww!
Monaco and Cade met online last year – it's the first same-sex relationship each of them have been in. "We were blown away by our ability to connect with each other immediately and find the happiness we had been looking for," Monaco told BuzzFeed.
Cade had been planning to ask Monaco to marry her since September, when she bought an engagement ring; Monaco had bought a ring for Cade back in January. Monaco said she wanted to be the one to propose because Cade is so selfless. “She never gets spoiled or gets to be the center of attention,” Monaco said to Mashable.
Both of them asked Cade's mom, Kristy, how they should propose to each other. And that's when Kristy decided it would be cute and funny (it was!) to have them both propose on the same day – without either knowing the other was also prepping to pop the question. Kristy told both of the two lovebirds they should surprise the other one with a ring while visiting Cade's family in Washington. Kristy is clearly someone we should all hire to plan events, because she knows how to make them EXTRA.
So the double proposal went down at Cade's family's house – and it's so beautiful to watch. Monaco started off the surprise with a game of Pictionary, and had Cade draw something that looked like a proposal. (She drew a lovely stick-figure couple.) The "will you marry me" clue then prompted Monaco to propose. When Monaco dropped down on one knee, Cade looked shocked, confused, and so, so happy. Once she realized her mom planned it, Cade reached for the engagement ring she bought for Monaco in turn. Just FYI, they both said yes!
Video footage of the proposal moment ends with both of them on one knee, trying to put the snug rings on each other’s fingers. "I was laughing at the coincidence, crying tears of happiness, and unbelievably shocked that something so perfect was happening to me," Monaco said to BuzzFeed.
It goes without saying that they both said yes, and they're already getting excited about their wedding, which will be on September 27 of next year. Love is real!
