The cabbage soup diet can help you lose weight in 7 days. But is it safe?

Losing around 4kg in 7 days may look too unrealistic but dramatic weight loss is possible with the cabbage soup diet. But can this new weight loss trend which is making buzz all around be safe? Let us hear it from nutritionist Akansha Jhalani.

What is cabbage soup diet?
As you must have guessed, one of the main foods you need to consume in this diet is cabbage soup and a lot of it. In fact, you can see results when you consume homemade cabbage soup several times a day. And while other foods such as fruits, vegetables, almond and skimmed milk, brown rice, chicken and fish are allowed in this diet, you can only eat these foods on certain days in very small quantities. For example, if you follow this diet you can eat cabbage soup and fruits on day one, veggies soup and baked potato on day two and a few fruits, and vegetables and a lot of soup on day three. You should also not follow these 7 popular fad diets. 

Can cabbage soup diet be healthy?
And while this diet will require you to eat a lot of vegetables, you will not have a balanced meal at the end of the day. While the fruits and vegetables are high in fibre, most meals do not offer satisfying fat or protein. So you might just end up gulping down cabbage soup to the point you are bloated and still feel hungry two hours later.
If you can survive this diet for seven days, you will definitely find that you are on a lower side of the weighing scale but chances are that the weight loss is mostly water loss. This means that you will gain all the weight back once you start eating normally again.
