The Best (and Worst!) Holiday-Themed Drinks

1/9 ,

Holiday shopping can really make you work up a thirst. But beware: While decadent, creamy holiday drinks may look deliciously innocent, some are pretty much liquid fat bombs. Find out which to avoid—and which festive drinks to order instead.

2/9 ,

Don't Drink This: Egg Nog McCafe Shake (Medium)
Calories: 680
Fat: 19 g (12 g saturated)
Sugar: 93 g
Sodium: 220 mg

We're loving that Mickey D's is in the holiday spirit and all, but you'd have to eat 46 1/2 sugar cubes to take in this much sugar—and 68 cubes to amount to the same number of calories!

3/9 ,

Drink This: Holiday Mint McFlurry (Snack Size)
Calories: 380
Fat: 14 g (10 g saturated)
Sodium: 110 mg
Sugar: 51 g

OK, it's technically not a drink—but this spoonable creamy mint treat has half the calories and sugar and a third less fat than the medium Egg Nog McCafe Shake.

4/9 ,

Don't Drink This: White Hot Chocolate (Grande)
Calories: 480
Fat: 19 g (12 g saturated)
Sodium: 270 mg
Sugar: 62 g

Starbucks boasts about the "buttery white chocolate-flavored sauce" that makes this steamy sip so rich—but finish the entire 16 ounces, and it'll set you back almost a quarter of your daily calorie allotment.

5/9 ,

Drink This: Gingerbread Latte with Nonfat Milk (Grande)
Calories: 270
Fat: 7 g (4.5 g saturated)
Sodium: 0 mg
Sugar: 37 g

Nothing says Christmas like gingerbread. The best part: You can still get this topped with yummy whipped cream, so long as you order it with nonfat milk (instead of the 2 percent it normally comes with). We promise you won’t even notice the difference.

6/9 ,
Dunkin' Donuts

Don't Drink This: Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate (Medium)
Calories: 310
Fat: 10 g (10 g saturated)
Sodium: 440 mg
Sugar: 40 g

The calorie count isn't totally insane here—but the saturated fat content is. That's the same amount as you'd find in a Big Mac!

7/9 ,
Dunkin' Donuts

Drink This: Apple Cider (Medium)
Calories: 180
Fat: 0 g
Sodium: 55 mg (65 mg in the iced version)
Sugar: 45 g

Get this hot or iced—either way, it's a much smarter option than the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.

8/9 ,
Jamba Juice

Don't Drink This: Eggnog Jubilee (16 oz)
Calories: 390
Fat: 3.5 g (2 g saturated)
Sodium: 260 mg
Sugar: 66 g

It’s made with soy milk and frozen yogurt, which probably keeps the fat count relatively low. But the sugar—yikes! Drink one of these, and you’ll be consuming the same amount of sugar as is in 27 Starburst candies!

9/9 ,
Jamba Juice

Drink This: Eggnog Jubilee Light (16 oz)
Calories: 260
Fat: 3.5 g (1.5 g saturated)
Sodium: 280 mg
Sugar: 40 g

This version of the decadent egg nog original manages to rack up a third fewer calories and grams of sugar than the original—joy!
