A man and his biological daughter face incest charges after warrants say they had a sexual relationship and planned to marry.
NBC 4 reports that Katie Rose Pladl, who was born in January of 1998 to Steven Walter Pladl and her mother, was legally adopted out of state. However, on her 18th birthday, the teen reached out to her biological parents, and in August 2016, she moved to their home outside of Richmond, Virginia, and began living with them and their two other children.
In November of 2016, Steven Pladl and his wife legally separated and the wife told authorities that she read in the journal of one of her children that Katie was pregnant and Steven was the father. According to the warrants, he told his other children to call Katie Pladl their step-mom.
Warrants say Steven Pladl's wife asked him if he impregnated their daughter, and he said yes, and that they planned to marry.
On Nov 29, 2017, police issued warrants for the arrest of Katie and Steven Pladl, who were then living in North Carolina. A baby boy, born September 2017, was with them.
Steven and Katie Pladl were charged with incest with adult, adultery, contributing to delinquency, and were both issued a $1 million bond. According to KRON4, Stephen bonded out of jail, but Katie is being held at the Wake County Detention Center pending extradition to Virginia.
