On January 18, self-employed landscaper and annual mall Santa Bruce McArthur, 66, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, the Washington Post reports. Police have since charged him with the murders of three additional men.
Authorities searched a Toronto house where McArthur often did lawn work and stored equipment before making the arrest. There they found three large planters at the back of the property, each with dismembered remains inside. The remains have yet to be identified.
According to TheStar.com, two of McArthur’s alleged victims (Selim Esen, 44, and Andrew Kinsman, 49) were first reported missing in 2017. His other three alleged victims are believed to be Majeed Kayhan, 58, Soroush Mahmudi, 50, and Dean Lisowick, 47. McArthur and Kinsman reportedly had a relationship sexual in nature, but it’s unclear if he was involved with any of his other alleged victims.
Toronto Police Detective Sargeant Hank Idsinga said in a press conference: “The city of Toronto has never seen anything like this. It’s a serial killer. An alleged serial killer. He has taken some steps to cover his tracks and we have to uncover these victims and identify these victims.”
Per VICE, McArthur played Santa at the local Agincourt Mall in at least 2015 and 2016. Agincourt Mall acknowledged McArthur was hired through a third-party agency that provides Santas to businesses.
Authorities believe McArthur likely has more victims.
