How to Look Youngerâ€"WITHOUT Going Under the Knife

Most people who decide to get plastic surgery expect to look hotter afterward. But the truth is, cosmetic surgery doesn’t always increase a person’s overall attractiveness, according to a new study published in the journal JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery.

In the study, 50 participants reviewed either before or after photos (not both) of 49 plastic surgery patients who had received a cosmetic eye or brow lift, a face or neck lift, or a combination of these procedures. The participants were asked to guess each person’s age and rate their attractiveness on a scale from one to 10.

On average, participants thought the patients looked 3.1 years younger after surgery—but there was no significant difference between attractiveness scores before and after the cosmetic procedures.
