Food poisoning happens when you eat or drink something which may contain germs. It generally happens when you eat outside food or when you eat something unhygienic which is contaminated. Apart from germs, food poisoning can also happen if your food contains bacteria, viruses, or parasites that have the potential to harm your immune system from inside. It is a very difficult situation to be in and hence, outside food should be avoided as much as possible. Experiencing loss of appetite is quite common after food poisoning. Therefore, consumption of anything heavy and oily must be avoided around that time. Here are few symptoms of food poisoning.

Abdominal Cramps: The one who is suffering from food poisoning may experience pain in abdominal area because of consumption of unhygienic and contaminated food.

Bacteria, virus and parasites which are present in the contaminated food may cause this condition. You may experience an upset stomach and loss of fluids from the body may also lead to dehydration.

What to eat/drink after food poisoning?

1. Drink Plenty of Fluids



During food poisoning, your body will lose plenty of fluids as a result of vomiting and diarrhoea. It is of utmost importance to replace the lost fluids as soon as possible otherwise you may face serious consequences. It is advised to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. If you are finding it difficult to drink anything then you must consult a doctor immediately.

2. Start following BRAT diet

Following a BRAT diet after food poisoning will pave the perfect way for recovery. BRAT stands for Banana, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. The reason why these foods are recommended is because these things are light on stomach and they are tailor made to have after food poisoning.Heavy foods and dairy products must be avoided for some time at least.
