Follow This Devil Girl's Workout for Basketball Dancer Abs

If you haven't caught her show "Hit the Floor" on VH1 (season two premiers Monday, January 18 at 9 p.m. EST) you should know that it's full of "drama, sexiness, and scandal," says Katherine Bailess, a.k.a. Kyle on the scripted show about a professional basketball team called the LA Devils and its professional dance team the Devil Girls.

On the show, Katherine's character is a stripper turned professional dancer who hopes to get up close and personal with the team's owners—for obvious reasons. Not surprisingly, girl doesn't wear a lot of clothes—and with abs like those (see below) we don't blame her. 

To find out how Katherine keeps her abs in Devil Girl shape, we asked her for a few pointers.

Vary Your Routine
Though Katherine has been a three time state champion gymnast, life-long ballet dancer, and most recently a Pilates instructor, she says it's even more important for her to keep switching up her workouts now that she's on the show. "In the off-season, I take ballet classes three times a week, run on my own or take treadmill classes, and take Pilates and yoga," she says. Dang

Make Time for Mini Workouts
On the other hand, it's tough for Katherine to find time to make it to all those workout classes while filming, she says. But that doesn't keep her from workin' on her fitness whenever possible. Before she's set to go on screen, she says she does a quick Pilates workout and gets her sweat on around the set. "If I have a minute, I'll do the Pilates one hundred, sit ups, and crisscrosses or run laps around the arena," she says.

Some days on the set can consist of 10 hours (!) of dance rehearsal, says Katherine. And that definitely has an impact on her body, "I don't think there's anything better for getting you in shape than dance," she says. And we believe her. Eat Strategically
Like most of us, Katherine's kick-ass abs don't always look like they could take on a load of laundry, she says. But when she's prepping to be on camera she tries to stick with foods that don't make her feel bloated. Her recipe for success: "When we're filming a dance scene, we want our abs to look awesome but need to eat because we work so hard," she says.  "I usually have egg whites scrambled with spinach and mushrooms. For a midday snack, I'll have a banana with almond butter, dried fruit, or almonds." Noted.
