As Rani Mukerji emerged in her sophisticated kurta and gharara on Tuesday, our hearts skipped a beat. Then we took in her full ensemble, and yes, the actor was wearing her favourite designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Rani stunned in a memorable matka kurta and gharara with ‘tilla ka kaam’ hand-painted patchwork borders, as she shot for reality TV show, Dance India Dance, in Mumbai.
Her elegant pink chiffon dupatta embroidered with badla complemented both the embroidery on the neckline and sleeves of her effortless ensemble, but her Indian styling didn’t end there. Finishing off her traditional ensemble, she wore polki earrings to show how a dark-hued kurta and gharara can be dressy with the right accessories. But her tiny black bindi might have been the most simple yet impressive touch.
What you can also pick up from Rani is the key to finishing off a traditional look. Let a heavy outfit take due centre stage by pulling your hair on one side, keeping the make-up minimal, and adding only one piece of statement jewellery.
Rani’s latest fuss-free outfit proves that she’s a fashion girl through and through, even if she does take a break from the spotlight every now and then. Another thing’s for sure: When Sabya puts together a look for her, it pretty much rocks.
