A Final Letter To 2017, As We Bid Adieu To It For Good

Soon, most people will be busy getting dressed for the New Year’s eve, bubbly will be popped, toasts will be raised, and the year 2017 will be a thing of the past. Which is why I thought it’d be great to write a final goodbye letter for the year I’ll never be able to meet again. Join me, as I bid adieu to 2017, a year that has given me, and you, some important life lessons we’ll cherish for a long time.

Dear 2017,

As I look back at you, a year that flew by at the blink of an eye (at least that’s how it seemed), I realise that it’s been one of the best ones as far as learning new lessons are concerned. No doubt there were many ups and downs, successes and failures, but what helped me become a better version of myself were the testing times.

Thank you. Thank you for the countless opportunities that you served on my plate in the past 12 months. From teaching me the true meaning of friendship, to the significance of each family member, and how not to be a spoilsport when challenges and adventures knock my door, these lessons I will cherish it for the rest of my life and whenever I get the opportunity, will pass on these mantras to those who in need. There have been many trials over the years; however, the ones I experienced this year were more challenging than ever. There was even a point when I had to choose between my incomplete education and professional life, which, I feel was one of the most difficult decisions I have taken so far.

I didn’t have the best of times with you, nor did my loved ones, but we’re thankful for both the testing and happy moments. You helped me filter out the kinks in my life and career. You showed me who deserved my attention and who I should ignore. Our friendship began with uncertainty, but comfort followed, and I’m glad it did. I met so many new people, some of who I’m sure I’ll be grateful for in coming years, and reached notable highs in my career and personal life. Those who left, I know they did for good, so I could make room for others who deserve it. Cutting it short, you took a lot away from me, but you also gave me a lot more to celebrate. For the last time, thank you for being the year that you were; I cannot wait to welcome the new year and what it has in store for me. You will be missed, and I will always remember what you

You will be missed, and I will always remember what you've taught me. Goodbye and good riddance, 2017! Cheers to 2018!

Love,

Your student.
