After Variety reported that Cate Blanchett has had relationships with "many" women, the actress recently clarified that she wasn't referring to romantic ones. But while Cate may not count herself among the bi starlets in Hollywood, plenty of other women do. Here are a few you might be surprised to learn view sexuality in flexible terms.
In 2010, "True Blood" star Anna Paquin proclaimed herself as bisexual as part of the "Give a Damn" public service announcement for gay rights organization True Colors First.
She married co-star Stephen Moyer in 2010, and they have fraternal twins who are 2 years old.
Like Anna, musician Vanessa Carlton announced her bisexuality in support of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community when she told a Nashville Pride Festival audience back in 2010, "I've never said this before, but while we're here and living out loud as we should every single day, I, myself, am a proud bisexual woman!"
Now a mother of two boys and married to Brian Austin Green, Megan Fox once told GQ that she was in love with a woman who worked at a Los Angeles strip club. "I decided that I was going to get her to love me back, and I went out of my way to create a relationship with this girl, a stripper named Nikita," she told the magazine. "I was [at the strip club] all the time—I would go there by myself. I bought her things—perfume, body spray, girlie stuff."
She's been romantically linked to a number of Hollywood men throughout her career, but Drew Barrymore's also been rumored to have had flings with a few women, including Ellen Page—whom she kissed at a Marie Claire photo shoot—and Jane Pratt, former editor of Sassy and Jane. Although neither have been confirmed, Drew told Contact Music more than 10 years ago that she's always considered herself bisexual. "Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do. Totally."
The X-Files actress has twice been married to men, but she dated a female peer back in her school days. "I was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school..." she told Out magazine in 2012.
"I've been very honest with [Josh] from the get-go," The Black Eyed Peas singer told The Advocate while opening up about her bisexual experiences. "I think women are beautiful, I've had a lot of fun with women, and I'm not ashamed of it."
Twenty-eight-year-old Evan Rachel Wood has dated men as diverse as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Edward Norton, and Marilyn Manson. And in a 2011 interview with Esquire, she confirmed that she's also dated women in the past. "I'm more kind of like the guy when it comes to girls," she says. "I'm the dominant one.... I'm opening the doors, I'm buying dinner. Yeah, I'm romantic." Most recently, she was seeing fellow actress Katherine Moennig.
We can't think of anyone with a more eclectic dating history than actress Bai Ling. She's hooked up with everyone from Bill Maher to Mickey Rourke to Nick Carter. While she hasn't been connected to any specific women, she's openly bisexual and has talked about how the pronunciation of her name and her sexual orientation have made for some confusing exchanges: "My name is pronounced 'bi,' so when I was asked, 'Are you bi?' I said, 'Yes, I am Bai.' Do you like men? 'Of course!' Do you like women? 'Why yes!' And later I found out what that means, and I said, 'Sure, I am bi!' But I think the interpreters and the reporters thought that I didn't know what I was saying because I was so open about it," she told Entertainment Weekly, according to GLAAD.
