But there are small moves you can make starting from the moment you wake up that’ll boost your energy and drive to get frisky, says Lori Buckley, Psy.D., a licensed sex therapist in Pasadena, California. Got a few minutes to spare during your morning shower? Pleasure yourself to get the juices flowing early: “The more orgasms women have, the more we feel like having sex,” says Buckley.

“Build sexual tension by sending a few sexy texts during the day," says Buckley. "Talk about things you fantasize doing to each other, or remind him about something super-sexy he did to you last time."

Hit the gym to release a rush of endorphins—a.k.a. the happy hormones—and bank an energy boost that’ll drive you to the sack. (And if you both come home hot and sweaty, there’s really nothing else to do but take a shower together.)

There’s nothing like garlic breath and bloat to keep two people on opposite sides of the couch (and bed). “Focus on things that nourish your body and give you strength,” says Buckley, like lean protein and veggies. Or if you know you’re going out for a big dinner, try something novel: sex before dinner.

No need to throw on a fishnet bodysuit the minute you walk in the door (torture!), but wearing something that makes you feel confident (whether that’s midriff-bearing boyfriend jeans, perfume, or yes, a lacey bra) ups the odds that you’ll let him take it all off.

“The most important thing when it comes to arousal is being mentally present, which is hard to do if your room is a mess or you’re thinking about unanswered e-mails,” says Buckley. Check as much as you can off your to-do list, and then relax—listen to music, meditate, or whatever it takes to fully let loose.
