4 oral care mistakes responsible for yellow teeth

    Drinking tea or coffee excessively or eating acidic fruits and vegetables can cause yellowing of the teeth. These are known facts. But did you know that your every day oral care routine can also lead to yellow teeth? Here are few oral care practices you must avoid to prevent yellowing of the teeth.

  • brushing

    Brushing too hard or too often. Yes, brushing too enthusiastically can wear away the thin enamel layer and expose the dentin layer causing the teeth to appear yellow.

  • floss

    In addition to brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing is also a good oral care regimen you must follow. This is because, not flossing your teeth regularly can lead to accumulation of plaque on the enamel, increasing the risk of bacterial attack and yellow teeth.

  • mouthwash

    Think twice before you use a mouthwash. The reason being overusing mouthwash or picking the one that is too acidic can land your teeth in trouble. Ann acidic mouthwash can destroy tooth enamel and cause yellow teeth.

  • toothpaste

    Lastly, using a toothpaste loaded with fluoride as fluoride can lead to yellowish stains on the teeth. Hence, do check if your toothpaste has permissible limits of fluoride when picking one.
