1 - The picture is so sharp, it may cut you. Seriously, though. When Apple wants to make a crisp image, it’s absurd how rich and true to life it is. The 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR) support are mind-bogglingly luscious. Voice-activated search powered by Siri makes it easy to find 4K HDR content, too. All you have to do is ask. Nice bonus: if you’ve bought a movie from iTunes that was only in HD but a 4K version later emerged, you’ll be upgraded to that content for free.
2 - Watching sports is a grand slam. With the TV app, you can just ask Siri to “Watch the Giants game” or if you simply want a live update, “What’s the score of the Mets game?” You can track your teams, with on-screen notifications alerting you to when they’re playing or if something major happens. Plus, MLB, ESPN, Fox Sports Go all now have split screen viewing in their apps, so you can keep tabs on everyone in your fantasy league simultaneously.
3 - Challenging in-home workouts are taps away. There’s a slew of workout Apple TV apps that are really stellar for breaking a sweat (ahem, have you tried ours?). Some of our favorites include Zova, which boasts plenty of free video and an Apple Watch integration so you can see your heartbeat right on the TV screen, DailyBurn, which will run you about $13 per month, and Cody, which has some great HIIT classes that you purchase in a package and complete one per day.
4 - Sharing is caring (and easy as hell). With AirPlay, it’s never been easier to simply share and send movies, TV shows, home videos and pictures from your Apple devices to the Apple TV. The mirroring option also means you can demonstrate anything to a group, making presentations a cinch, or if you just have to show your mom (again) how to embed a picture in an email.
